As personal and societal pressures accumulate, a non-binary model and musician find refuge in one another at a house party. Directed by A.B. Oddman and Rogelio Salinas, one/another weaves themes of queer intimacy and the search for sanctuary through understated storytelling and expressive visual language.
As composer, Ace approached the score with sensitivity to the film’s layered emotional textures — crafting soundscapes that echo internal tension, quiet yearning, and the momentary relief of connection. Working closely with the directors, they designed a sonic atmosphere that could hold both fragility and release, using ambient textures, vocal layering, and the gentle presence of guitar (performed by Josh Salinas) to mirror the film’s emotional arcs.
The music doesn't direct the emotion — it listens to it. It emerges slowly, offering warmth where language falters and holding space for the film’s most intimate silences. The score stands not only as accompaniment, but as a character of its own: one that breathes alongside the protagonists, feeling the weight and softness of queer existence in real time.
one/another premiered at the New Filmmakers Los Angeles Film Festival as part of the InFocus: LGBTQ+ Cinema program, and was created by an all-star team of queer, trans, and BIPOC creatives dedicated to telling healing, intimate, and complex stories.
